The leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization reached approximately $65,500 on Tuesday, representing its strongest level in two weeks. The digital asset registered a 1% increase during the trading day and achieved a 5% advance across the seven-day period. Trading volume for the session exceeded $33 billion.

Ethereum demonstrated superior performance, advancing 3% to reach $1,922 — representing an 8% climb over the past week. XRP registered a 3% increase to $1.13, while Solana moved 2% higher to $78, and BNB maintained its position at $574. Dogecoin showed minimal movement. Hyperliquid’s HYPE token appreciated 4% to $63, though it remains the sole major cryptocurrency posting weekly losses.
Institutional Investment Through ETFs Gains Traction
Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States attracted $227 million on July 20, extending their positive flow streak to five consecutive trading sessions. Total net assets across these investment vehicles climbed to roughly $79.16 billion. Ethereum-based spot ETFs drew an additional $38.09 million during the same period.
The cumulative five-day inflow sequence exceeded $600 million — representing the strongest period of institutional accumulation since mid-July and effectively reversing an eight-week pattern of outflows that persisted through late June.
The aggregate cryptocurrency market capitalization expanded 1.56% across 24 hours to reach $2.24 trillion.
Activity in Bitcoin derivatives markets intensified considerably. Trading volumes surged 95% to $59.67 billion. Open interest increased 2.36% to $49.07 billion. Options trading volume exploded 138% to $3.25 billion, while options open interest rose 1.86% to $32.67 billion.
Examining the four-hour timeframe, BTC traded within a range of $65,140 to $65,623. The MACD indicator signaled bullish momentum while the RSI registered 62, remaining below overbought conditions. A decisive breach above $66,000 could establish a pathway toward $67,000 and subsequently $68,000. Should support at $65,000 fail, the asset could revisit the $64,000 level.
Legislative Advancement Strengthens Market Confidence
Market optimism received additional support from political developments in Washington. President Trump consented to an ethics provision associated with the CLARITY Act — proposed legislation that would establish a regulatory framework dividing oversight of digital assets between the SEC and CFTC. An industry insider informed The Block that the agreement materialized Monday evening following months of stagnant negotiations. Legislative action is required before Congress enters its early August recess.
The semiconductor industry’s recovery contributed momentum to the wider risk asset rally. MSCI’s Asia Pacific index advanced 2%. Markets in South Korea and Taiwan each climbed approximately 4%. Japan’s Nikkei index gained 3%. A technology-focused mainland China benchmark surged nearly 7% as state-affiliated purchasers entered the market.
Crude oil retreated, with Brent declining 1% to $88.58 following Iranian signals that mediators were distributing proposals aimed at reducing tensions.
Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer at BTSE, observed: “Present valuations for bitcoin and ether appear low yet reasonable, considering the macroeconomic uncertainties affecting markets.” He emphasized that market participants are monitoring the Federal Reserve’s July 28–29 policy meeting, with current pricing indicating just 15% probability of a July interest rate increase.
Market analyst Michaël van de Poppe (@CryptoMichNL) articulated his perspective that Bitcoin could advance toward the $80,000–$85,000 range during the upcoming two to three months, which he anticipates would align with the 50-week moving average — a technical level he characterizes as conventional resistance during the initial phase of recovery following bear market conditions.
Bitcoin’s most recent quotation stood at $65,442, with purchasing activity maintaining the asset above the critical $65,000 support threshold.
